We gathered up the gang and headed to the river. I caught this shot as Ashley and Kurt were having a fun time being silly. I used the shadow in the picture as a reference point because I wanted people to see how high Ashley can jump! The shadow adds a nice dramatic layer to my picture. I had a chance to play with Rhonna Farrer's Super Comic Digital set from <a href="http://rhonnadesigns.blogspot.com/">Rhonna Designs</a>. It was super fun… Because I LOVE COMICS!</span></div>

We had to go up to Edmonton this past week and we were behind this man driving a convertible with his dog. So instead of worrying about sharpness I just edited out the color & put back a brighter red. I then distressed it for a fun grunge look. I have been taking a lot of pictures but for some reason they haven't made it here….they make it everywhere else. I really wanted to post this beautiful photo of this Kestrel that I took the other day while my family and I where walking around Kin Coulee Park in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The bird was out hunting in the early evening. Believe it or not I had to use my Macro setting to get up and personal to this bird that was about 30 feet above on the cliffs. With the sun setting, the distance, and the size of the bird…the best setting at the moment was Macro. It was so fun to watch them flying around do free.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="5" face="David">So….I have been having fun taking pictures and editing them on my Apple iTouch. This week I received a twitter saying that I was on the front page of the #iPhonesia Daily ( an App that has a daily paper on the computer.) I thought that was pretty cool since I have only been doing this for just over two months. I was actually excited, even though I am way down on the bottom corner of the front page…I am there. So, I wanted to share some of the pictures that I have taken and created with my iTouch.</font></p> <blockquote> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="28 Days Later">The <strong>#iPhonesia</strong> Daily </font></p> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="28 Days Later">#color 2 </font> <p align="center"><a href="http://instagr.am/p/Dkqcq/"><font size="3" face="28 Days Later">Instagram</font></a> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="28 Days Later">instagr.am - susankweckesser 138 photos · 49 followers“I am having so much fun doodling with my new markers from @KuretakeUK ! It got an IPOD for Christmas and before I knew it I was finding all kinds of neat photography and color 'apps' . I was creating cute little photos that almost look like pieces of art that I would have on my walls! So awesome and fun! However, this gadget will not be taking over the spot of my digital camera any time soon as it seems to lack in departments such as sharpness. Not all houses are the same and lots of candy and milk is eaten and drank by everyone. At the end everyone is tired out by all the laughter! It is great fun to take pics of the houses using my macro setting.</p> Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03443875062489300861noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961755101208733473.post-41215377106299202982010-11-17T14:11:00.001-08:002010-11-17T14:11:23.846-08:00Editing Heritage Photos<p> </p> <blockquote> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVKNy-x2ufNClcI2azyVzpLw-4CStEzdAN4tR6tK4_YrAXZ3wVZT_q42VIT8_fN6RYMKPm5fA_L2KdJVJDZFyIkIV4yDnySBAlOFwPBhyphenhyphenWr0BXRIztkJNLvILdU7Dux-vywKKMWPLmKRI/s1600-h/sussex%20child%5B10%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="sussex child" border="0" alt="sussex child" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_umCiT1FOHp4/TORS9Y19fZI/AAAAAAAAA28/RPVd48gSF1A/sussex%20child_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="478" height="768"></a></p></blockquote> <h6><font size="4" face="28 Days Later"> Distant cousin in Surrey, England</font></h6> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_umCiT1FOHp4/TORS__ySYsI/AAAAAAAAA3A/mUQWkCkAJmw/s1600-h/sussex%20england%5B11%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="sussex england" border="0" alt="sussex england" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMWprZ2iEPrTbi9f20eWpfKbMA0RhifIEiIA69M9J75yfZsOaJtaGRxP0EmQjyNXZGZ0gmC2H8IdD_gaGWQhMkG8l_KHjWTlwch7Vd_liosMT699oPyuPXhQmWRFyIyMZHj7UztrYcWOA/?imgmax=800" width="637" height="480"></a></p> <p><font size="4" face="28 Days Later"> Great, great, Grandparents in Sussex, England</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_umCiT1FOHp4/TORTCDGVoiI/AAAAAAAAA3I/NfmKsbVLcbU/s1600-h/Dad%20on%20horse%20in%20Cresent%2C%20Oklahoma%5B3%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Dad on horse in Cresent, Oklahoma" border="0" alt="Dad on horse in Cresent, Oklahoma" align="left" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidLFszaixgUDFkUmQwpbnppKXulZiFZVE676NQNQ2wK4aKF5z37c-TGR93G2WDpmaYY7mu74ibaF0AR9vxJqoazdkKX7kGSc05POYD2JYVHljLp4eN8fNGgdESRcAMfNBsD-fPXA6USxQ/?imgmax=800" width="644" height="375"></a></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> <font size="4" face="28 Days Later"> My Dad visiting Houston when he was a boy.</font></p> <p>With all the new technology that has come out over the last few years it is possible to restore and edit photos from years ago. I love taking pictures that have been left to me and restoring them, playing with and creating with. They are all precious to me and with the help of computers I can help them last a lot longer. I can erase tears and scratches, clear and sharpen pictures and even color black and white photos if I want to. It really is fun. There are so many programs to chose from, like <a href="http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ca/en/Content/1150905725000" target="_blank">Corel Paint</a> shop and <a href="http://tryit.adobe.com/us/cs5/designpremium/promo2.html?sdid=IBEQF" target="_blank">Adobe Photo shop</a>. I had actually gone out to take a picture of the full moon, however the clouds kept covering it, so we ended up experimenting with lights and shadows. It was kind of neat. Try to take a picture of something very small. </b></span></span><br />

The weather was beautiful and everyone was in a fantastic mood! I love how my snapshot tells a story, however there are many other stories going on in my snapshot at the same time. Look how proud my daughter looks because she got the football. Then look at my husband… he is up to no good! My other daughter is just enjoying having her photo taken. My sons are being, well you guess it, trouble makers! I luv it! So many stories going on in the picture!<br />
Because this was a sport photo I kept my COOLPIX on a continuous sport mode so I could catch all the action. I then used a filter in Corel paint Shop Pro to bring out the colors and richness of the photo.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03443875062489300861noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2961755101208733473.post-78476991570851718712010-09-06T06:45:00.000-07:002010-09-06T06:46:17.420-07:00It is a new week in photography...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipc19yjyB88CZIgQsG7ZWgtXXxny4J_0u_hDwg8gpaYC960Bn6XmJhasp0qtuFc98qwmwYWgfGkMXH3vmDudzuwf0TJG_D8s3hbrwdZA6_mZj1xKicT8pYbWU_t2YJfnpH3oH8erxCFoQ/s1600/at+the+swimming+hole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipc19yjyB88CZIgQsG7ZWgtXXxny4J_0u_hDwg8gpaYC960Bn6XmJhasp0qtuFc98qwmwYWgfGkMXH3vmDudzuwf0TJG_D8s3hbrwdZA6_mZj1xKicT8pYbWU_t2YJfnpH3oH8erxCFoQ/s640/at+the+swimming+hole.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><blockquote style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> 'Another Day at the Swimming Hole' copyrighted© Susan K.Weckesser (<a href="http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=2/6868&pq-locale=en_CA">Kodak easy-share</a>)</span></span></blockquote><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>This weeks challenge for the Photography Journal is<i> 'OUTDOOR SPORTS'. </i>This can include anything and everything that you might consider an outdoor sport. So while the weather is still beautiful outside get out there and enjoy it! When taking pictures try using other settings on your camera. It is wonderful to to shoot in vivid color, but you will be surprised at the different range of emotions the you can get from shooting in sepia or black and white. Look at at the at the wonderful raw emotions of the two girls taking a break from swimming that I captured from snapping this snapshot in black and white. Give it a try and see the difference between settings.<br />
Happy shooting!<br />
